K More brands are using EVA soles in their shoes, so it’s no wonder you want to know what exactly they are! Simply put, an EVA sole is a plastic sole that can be lighter and more flexible than rubber. But this is just the surface of what these soles are and what their benefits are, which is why we’ve made the ultimate guide so you can see what EVA material can do for you.
WHAT IS EVA?
EVA stands for Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate. That is an elastomeric polymer that produces materials which are "rubber-like" in softness and flexibility. It is a plastic made by combining ethylene and vinyl acetate to create rubber like properties which can be used for shoe soles. EVA soles are resistant to corrosion caused by sea water, fats, oil, or chemicals (certain types of rubber degrade quickly when in contact with oil). It is also considered safe and environmentally friendly, due to its anti-bacterial and non-toxic properties. It is also relatively non-polluting. What makes EVA a good choice (running or anything that will flex during walking) is the “low-temperature” toughness, stress-crack resistance, waterproof properties, and resistance to UV-radiation.”
FIVE REASONS WE USE EVA SOLES
More Flexibility. EVA tends to be softer than rubber, which means it has more flexibility.
Lighter. The EVA is so much lighter than rubber.
Keeps you Warmer. EVA doesn’t conduct as much heat, which means your feet will stay warmer for longer. This makes it the ideal sole for our footwear.
Shock Absorption. Our EVA soles absorb more of the step impact making for a more comfortable walk or run in our shoes.
Durability. EVA soles can last longer than other soles.
The use of EVA soles is just part of our commitment to use the best materials in our products. We are committed to 0% scraps, up to 90% recycled water in production, and 100% use of renewable resources.
